Your mom is a gem, a real treasure. I so enjoyed our walk together thru her garden (with the GPPA group). She is a joy for sure. And let her know I'm gonna do my best to get those gardenia cuttings to root - fingers crossed & prayers said !!!
Growing up, I was surrounded by potato fields. After all, it was long island. In lean times we lived on potatoes and bluefish . Now there is only a fraction left gone over to Mc Mansions. Good one !
Thank you. I have some really wonderful photos of a crew of women from the city doing weekend duty to help feed the troops in World War II and I’m pretty sure they are picking up potatoes on Long Island!
Me too Pat! I mean that for both you and me.
Your mama is a treasure and I love her stories. Thanks, Jenks.
Must have been something in the water in Brunson ....
This brought back great memories of digging sweet potatoes with my grandparents.
My Momma has such great, well formative memories of digging - there's a mystery to food in the ground.
Love the relationship you have with your mom. You are blessed!

When you write about your Mama, I want to hug you both and anyone and everyone else nearby.
Thanks for the hug. Im writing a while new book but IDK that it needs an index....
You hit me right in my heart
Dang it Jenks! These stories make so happy but I cry every time! But potato picking is one of my favorite activity we do as a family. Great story!!!
This is all kinds of wonderful, every word.
My granny had a great garden. I have dug potatoes as a child! Thanks for sharing …
You're a beautiful human, Jenks.
Thank you. You know I resisted substack but your urging got me on her. Thank you for that.
Jenks, Your Mom is a real treasure. I am thankful for the time I am able to spend with her.
