Jenks, I had several Angel Trumpets that came back reliably every year. My garden guy, who keeps things looking beautiful around here, is afraid of them. He’d heard they were poisonous even to the touch or to breathe. He put on some gloves one day and dug them both up-banished from the kingdom! Have you heard of that?

I’ve always called the brugs as in “drug” and most of my gardening friends in south Florida, where I came to know and grow them first, also called them that. Brug-man-zee-uh. If the culture part is true about it being a lower class plant where you are from it definitely is not in south Florida. The red ones were always on my list to grow and have as well but alas, I’ll have to just see them in-situ one day.

Currently have some monster pink ones established here in my Texas garden and I had a white plant that was moderately sized until the 2021 freeze weakened it so much it died in the next year’s freeze for good. We had several cultivars in our south Florida garden but left them all behind when we moved.

Loved this piece.
