I remember a story you wrote years ago about friends, kids and grass puppets into the night. Sublime. Truth is much much better than fiction. Write on what you know. About your gardening. That’s why people are here ! Good luck ! A fellow horticulturalist (retired 38 yrs).

That damned shadow puppet guy. I got into my psyche and now every time I plan an event I try to think of ways to get him involved. Thank you!

Maybe my other comnent failed to post. I can't just vote for one and I think you can often combine the three styles in various combinations. It adds interest and does nit limit you.

I want it ALL but I understand what you’re trying to do. I love the nostalgic country stories for personal reasons. I learn something from the opinion pieces and I like the way you present your POV. You have a gift for conveying images of a time and place with a few salty well-chosen words. However the poll turns out, please keep writing. And if you need a proofreader or a first-reader, I’m raising my hand and waving.

It would suit me to see a mix of the three styles.

I like all three styles of writing! I do really enjoy your stories, ethos, philosophy style #1. But I like the topics you have covered in the other two styles. This may be asking a bit much, but do you think you could cover some of the topics you would normally write about in styles #2 and #3 in more of the story form of style #1 ? You did this to some extent with the grass controversy, when you started out with the story of your lawn. In essence you could write about learning or controversies in a more story form and get your point across in more subtle way and put at least a smile on people’s faces.

Thanks Clay. I like that too. The other sometimes feels ranty and like I'm trying to convince folks of something they don't want to hear.
